Lovell Burton Architecture has designed a house on a paddock northwest of Melbourne incorporating galvanised steel structures and agricultural materials.
Providing a retreat from the hustle and bustle of inner-city life, Springhill House is an artful combination of a shed-feel and other Australian style features such as a veranda with wooden columns and a corrugated metal roof.
Founders Joseph Lovell and Stephanie Burton considered the varying weather conditions, “Large eaves to the west and north provide shading to the windows while also providing external undercover areas. To the south, the dwelling is pushed against the columns to provide a barrier from the prevailing south west winds.
The house has been longlisted for a 2019 Dezeen Award.
